(03/10/2022) No Surprises Act: What You Need to Know

We started 2022 with the CFPB stating, “Companies that try to collect on medical bills that the No Surprises Act prohibits, or who furnish information to credit bureaus about such invalid debts, may face significant legal liability under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.”

In this panel discussion, Caren Enloe, Partner at Smith Debnam Narron Drake Saintsing & Myers, L.L.P. and Mark Rooney, Consumer Finance Litigation Defense, Hudson Cook, LLP, and Cindy Perr, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel at Advocare, LLC., will discuss the background of the legislation, dive into the anticipated CFPB enforcement and the Bureau’s legal theories under FDCPA UDAAP, and potential penalties and redress.
